My father used to talk about "eating ham and jam and spam a lot" when I was young and sometimes he would walk up to me and go "Ni" in my face. Obviously, I had no idea what he was going on about until years later I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, then suddenly things made sense.
Since my first viewing Monty Python and the Holy Grail has been one of my favourite movies and I have watched it many times; it never fails to make me laugh. When I started searching for more information on the movie I discovered that there is a huge amount of novelty merchandise, based upon the movie and its characters, available to buy. Some of this stuff is just totally daft, but fun.
This hub will showcase ten items which I liked and would make excellent gifts for Monty Python and the Holy Grail fans.
See The Movie, Read The Book, Get The T Shirt
One thing which is a must for fans of this movie is a copy of the movie itself. Never mind that your Holy Grail-loving friend/loved one already has a copy, it is probably all scratched and jumpy by now anyway, considering the number of times they have probably watched it. Anyway, they almost certainly will not have this 3-disc version with documentaries, commentary by the Pythons and much more.
My sister used to love reading the scripts of Fawlty Towers when she was young and people of similar thinking will enjoy reading the original screenplay of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This book is a real collectors' edition.
In the words of the cliche, "got the t-shirt". Have you really? One of the silliest gifts you could possibly buy your Holy Grail-loving loved one/friend is this "cow-tapult". This unlikely weapon originates from the scene where King Arthur and his Knights are attacked by ridiculous French Kuh-Nigets using a catapult and cow (followed by chickens etc.), after being subjected to their insults which include "Your father smells of elderberries" (the only time that these harsh words have passed censorship in a movie).
Monty Python fans can use this cow-tapult to bombard their friends with farmyard animals. Run away! Run away!

5. Trojan Rabbit
 | Fight back against bombardment by the cow-tapult with this Trojan Rabbit. This ridiculous siege weapon was the brainchild of Sir Bedevere and is based on the legendary Wooden Horse of Troy. Unfortunately, the Knights of the Round table forgot to hide inside and it was fired back at them using the cow-tapult.

Tim the Enchanter gives out rather dry advice accompanied by very theatrical speech patterns and pyrotechnics. 7. Knights Who Say Ni
This bobble-head toy version of a Knight who says Ni makes another funny gift for Monty Python fans; a character from one of the movie's most popular scenes.
My father used to constantly bother me with "Ni-ing" when I was a child so this is a scene from the movie which always makes me think of him.
Remarkably, some years ago I worked as a landscape gardener and on my first day at work I was asked to make ......... A SHRUBBERY! I thought it was a joke and just laughed at the boss. It was nearly the shortest career as a gardener ever.

Camelot Song and Dance
The song featured in the video above is just zany - I have always loved it since I heard it as a child on my father's soundtrack of the movie - years before I ever watched it. Some of the lyrics follow.

Fight The Killer Rabbit With A Biblical Relic
Okay, as previously mentioned, my favourite scene from the movie is where the Knights of the Round Table encounter the Killer Bunny. At first it seems like any ordinary rabbit but it attacks the advancing knights and kills some of them in a savage fashion. The only way to destroy the rabbit is to use the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch; a fabricated biblical relic that requires use under careful instruction.
In the movie one must count to three before lobbing the hand grenade but you are able to wear this t-shirt and cuddle this rabbit on the point of any count. These are two cool gifts for Holy Grail fans from this popular and funny scene.
